What a treat it was to capture these family portraits for the Stromme’s in their warm McMinnville, Oregon home! Brooke inquired with me just weeks before packing boxes and moving to Idaho for a new church plant, as she knew I was an Oregon Photographer. She hoped we could capture their final moments in their first home together, before moving out of state to continue building their life and creating new memories together. 

It was a joy, watching sweet baby Luke giggle on his parent’s laps as they cuddled on their favorite couch. Documenting him as he explored the first backyard he will ever know, but may never remember, in the safety of Brooke & Joshua’s loving gaze. My hope is that one day Luke will grow up to recall this time in his life, partially due to the photographs he grew up looking at in his family photo albums.

Also, for anyone hoping to visit the Pacific Northwest – don’t count McMinnville out! Portland, Oregon often gets all the attention. And while it’s true that PDX is a fantastic city, but Oregon has even more to offer. So if you’re looking for something more slow-paced, and in Wine Country, then McMinnville is probably the perfect destination for you. It makes for a wonderful day trip or even an extended weekend. Especially if you are able to make a reservation at the adorably quaint Atticus Hotel.

One of my favorite aspects of being a photographer in Oregon is having the opportunity to travel all over the Pacific Northwest for portrait and wedding work. I feel lucky to have been welcomed into so many cities and small towns, with a variety of unique traits and fresh perspectives. I’ll be honest, I am desperately hoping to book another portrait session in McMinnville in the immediate future, so I have an excuse to hit up their restaurant scene. All while enjoying the rolling hills and decadent wine. Personally, I recommend stopping by Pura Vida Cocina, for delicious, Gluten Free, Latin food or Yamhill Valley Vineyards for a delicious Reisling or Pinot Blanc.
